Lily McCrossin

On the Move in Sunny Florida was Lily McCrossin.  Lily danced 5 weeks at the Orlando Ballet under school director Diedre Miles Burger.  Dancing up to 5 hours daily Lily took classes in ballet, pointe, variations, modern, jazz and partnering.  “It was a great experience” says McCrossin.  “My favorite teachers were Oliver Munoz and Fiona Fairrie.  They both taught me to work hard and push myself to new heights.”

Lily is the 16 year old daughter of Gayle McCrossin of Sharpsburg.  She attends Boonsboro High School where she is a sophomore honor student .  Lily has been dancing 12 years and has attended  summer programs at San Jose Ballet, Maryland Youth Ballet, American Academy of Ballet, Glo-ATL and the Austin Ballet for the past 2 years.   She plans to graduate early, continue her dancing and study physical therapy.Wonderstruk

Another Exciting Dancer on the Move is Lindsay Watkins.  Lindsay traveled to the beautiful Rocky Mountains to study at Ballet Nouveau Colorado in Denver.  She received a scholarship for the 4 week experience at the Southeastern Regional Ballet Festival  in Jackson, MS.  “The experience gave me an opportunity to study ballet, jazz and modern but also less traditional dance forms like African.  The atmosphere was very inspiring surrounded by professionals dancers each day.   On of my favorite teachers was Sarah Tallman.  She encouraged me to reach  longer and make my lines bigger, like me she was also a small frame dancer.  I am grateful for the awesome experience and will forever approach my work differently as a result ”  says Lindsay.
Lindsay is the daughter of Ron and Kim Watkins of Martinsburg.   She is a Junior at Martinsburg High School where she is a member of the dance team.  She has been featured by many choreographers including Eddy Ocampo and Lauri Stallings.

Hannah Franz danced in the Big Apple this summer with scholastic support by the Marion Park Lewis Foundation.   Her studies included Complexions …Contemporary Ballet Intensive under the direction of Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson and the Amy Marshall Dance Company Workshop under the direction of Amy Marshall.  Hannah is the daughter of Stephen and Christina Franz of Charles Town and is a senior at Washington High School.  At the IPAC she was honored with the 2013 Dorothy Ewing and Brandeis Wilson Scholarships.  Her past summer studies include Ballet Austin, Maryland Youth Ballet and GloATL.  Congratulations Hannah on a great summer!

The Inwood Performing Arts Ballroom Dance Classes resume in September.  Join Winston to get in step for your wedding dance, a special occasion or just more comfort on the dance floor.  Beginner  Waltz, Foxtrot and Swing starts Monday, September 9th at 7:15pm.  Intermediate Rumba and Waltz starts Wednesday, September 11th at 7:00pm. The 8 week session is $102 per person.

If you desire a more intimate setting private lessons may be your choice at $71 per hour per couple.  Private group classes also available for weddings, Christmas parties, reunions, corporate occasions. Call 304-229-3209 for more information.

The Inwood Dance Company will perform The Nutcracker Saturday, December 8th at 7:30pm and Sunday, December 9th at 3:00pm at the Musselman High School Auditorium.  This is the company’s 21st season to present this holiday favorite which features principal guest artists Matthew Helms, Boulder Ballet as the Prince and Israel Rodriguez, formerly with the Orlando Ballet as the Dew Drop Fairy’s Cavalier.  Over 100 performers from ages 4 to adult will adorn the stage to tell the magical tale of Clara’s Journey to the Lands of Sweets.  Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and can be reserved by calling 304-229-3209.
